Help decide the “Maximus the Moose Mascot” design
September 17th, 2011
We decided one thing the race needed was a mascot, especially now with The Running Room’s Kids Fun Run. It’s an obvious choice on what the mascot was going to be..a moose, but what kind of moose? I contacted a few company’s and decided on one to make and design our Maximus the Moose. We decided on the name Maximus (Max) because we feel it fits with the sport, max effort, max challenge, max etc….Here’s where you come in…What type of moose do we want? A mean moose? A happy moose? Or if you’re like me in a race a tired moose??

I personally like the happy moose but I think he needs to be a little more buff, what triathlete doesn’t want to be ripped..?? Right?? Anyways leave a comment and we’ll let you know what we decide with your input, and keep on the lookout for Max this coming spring.

The Great White North 2012
September 1st, 2011
For those of you who were at the Awards dinner this year, I’m sure you were surprised to hear the news that after twenty years Wade Church was passing the reins over to a new Race Director Michael Brown. Wade has grown The Great White North from a small triathlon to a world class event, people from all over the world know and recognize the name The Great White North and that is a testament to how hard Wade has worked at creating this gem. Michael plans on keeping the great traditions Wade has created with a few touches of his own. Michael is first and foremost a triathlete and has an deep understanding of what the difference is between a good triathlon and a great triathlon, he has traveled to many races and knows he can add some great content to this already great race. New this year is a kids 1km fun run that will take place during the bike portion of the race, a success (training) camp hosted by eleven time Ironman champion Lisa Bentley on the first weekend of June and many more announcements to come.
Registration is only two short weeks away and the interest in the race has been astounding, people from as far away as Costa Rica have shown a keen interest to register for the race and we fully expect the 21st edition of The Great White North Triathlon to be the best one yet. If you have any questions, concerns or comments please contact Michael directly, michael@gwntriathlon@gmail.com he’d love to hear from you.
Happy training.
